Chakra Challenge: Heart Chakra

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

This Challenge is for anyone who knows there is more out there in the way of love…..self love. All things spring from this well. Let’s make sure you cup runneth over with the right energy and start to attract the like into your life.

I may be asking you to look at things from a new lens that could feel “woo woo”. Hey, maybe it is. Our healing, shifting, self-discovery and journey to love comes with all sort of names, depending on who you are. We could pray about it, meditate on it, exercise, talk to someone, journal, hug a tree or create art even! At the end of the day, all these experiences are giving the same human message to do whatever you need to get out of your own way and allow in all the abundance we have available to us…because all we have are these present moments. Glow in them feverishly goddess!

What is the Heart Chakra?

The Heart Chakra is the center of the main 7. It falls between the spaces of security, creativity, and power and below the spaces of truth and self-actualization through spiritual connection. The heart is associated with the element of air, and I believe this connects with the fact that the energy from the heart chakra is pervasive into all your other energies. It flows effortlessly, when not blocked, leaving you to receive and give love as easy as you breathe in and out. The lesson we learn at the core of beings when moving through the energy of the Heart Chakra is joy. Love is joy. Don’t get me wrong, there is also sadness with loss of love, but with the willingness to allow for it’s presence in our lives, we get to know the other side of the coin as well. A balanced and clear Heart Chakra will allow you to forgive more easily but also will have you draw to you the kind of love that you first are giving to yourself.

When the Heart Chakra is blocked, we will appear to have a wall around us saying “I am unavailable even though I’m on this date with you.” This is super frustrating not just to others wanting to connect, but to you as you are unaware of this fear driving the bus and wonder why suiters keep falling off. When there is healing that must happen here, we will halt from being the healer we are and even make others feel unloved or unworthy of our or anyone else’s time. We can sting. You can experience feelings of hopelessness, sadness, anger and resentment. Experiences create myths for us that include never and always. Never and always, when it comes to the negative narratives, are for sure Heart Chakra energy blockers. If we hope to experience joy again and continuously, we must practice a trust in not just another human being, but in ourselves to be full enough of love that we will heal ourselves when we tap into the truth of our limitless cup of it. No person or people can squash what you were made from, what you are made of or the experience you were meant to have on this planet; To share this endless energy and jump with joy from your spirit to every other fiber of your body. Your glow is not complete without this chakra’s energy on fleek.

The Heart Chakra Challenge

My challenge for you today: Use Your Touch to Heal

The sense connected to the Heart Chakra is touch. Today I challenge you to use your touch to heal. “You have the Universe at the tips of your fingers and in the palm of your hands. Learn to master this energy.” Here comes the “woo woo”. I feel like I haven’t quite given you enough of it in the previous days, so here were go! I’d like you to use some mudras and mantras to start to balance and clear your Heart Chakra. I bet you know what a mantra is but what are mudras? They are special hand positions that send energy to our particular chakra points. Each finger of our hand is associated with one of the five universal elements.

  • Fire- The thumb relates to the fire element, connected to the solar plexus chakra.

  • Air- The index finger represents the air element, connected to the heart chakra.

  • Space- The middle finger represents the space element, connected to the throat chakra.

  • Earth- The ring finger represents the earth element, connected to the root chakra.

  • Water- The pinky finger represents the water element, connected to the sacral chakra.

Mudras direct the flow of energy.

There is a traditional mantra that goes with this mudra, but we’re not quite traditional and I want this practice to embody your personal truths and desires around loving and being loved. I’d like you to take a moment to think of a mantra, a truth you hope to see manifested in your life. Some examples;

· Love easily flows to me

· There is no shortage of connection and joy in my relationships

· I embody the love that will come back to every time

· I trust that I am loved and being guided to one who matches my energy

· There is always a lesson in my loving connections

The list can go on and on. It can be long, short, swift or strong. I believe we know our hearts true desires and I know you are fearless enough to claim their truth, say them allowed and create space for this energy in a clear and balance Heart Chakra.

So to be clear on the actual challenge, today find a comfortable seat, cross your legs, get in the position of the heart mudra and chant your mantra, at least 30 times. Do it once or several times today. Play something that will allow you to drop into self and let yourself feel the flow of the ever present connect to this source of joy. Below, you’ll find a picture of what this mudra position for the Heart Chakra looks like.

Abhaya Hridaya Mudra

This mudra gives us courage to be present with and open our heart during times that scare us. It’s the fearless heart mudra. In Sanskrit, ahyaya means fearless and hridaya, heart.

To practice this mudra, first bring your hands into prayer at the heart center. Then, cross your wrists, your right behind the left. With the back of your hands pressed together, wrap the right pointer finger around the left one, the right middle finger around the left one, and the right pinky finger around the left one. Then bring your ring fingers to touch the thumb. Hold this mudra at your heart center and meditate upon your innate fearlessness.

What does this have to do with my dating? Honey, what’s love got to do with it?? EVERYTHING!

Tap in and let me know. I’d love to hear your mantra and get a peek into how you know you were meant to love.
